We actively promote the benefits of all aspects of the game to our members and also to our local community through our successful football in schools programme. Lower Hutt City AFC has a new temporary home.
After calling Bell Park home for nearly 93 years our club has transferred its operations to our new temporary home at Fraser Park. The Taita Cricket Clubrooms at Fraser Park will be known as Fraser Park Clubrooms and will become our new temporary clubrooms during the football season. Our indoor training facility will remain as our coaching base until our new permanent home at the Fraser Park Sportsville Complex is completed.

Reaching your potential!
Our professionally run coaching and development programmes are a key focus for our club and are overseen by our Director of Coaching Brendan McIntyre.
We pride ourselves on the quality pathways that have been developed to ensure the success of our players from our junior first kicks and fun football programmes through to our local, regional, national and international junior and senior representatives.
Our junior players not only receive quality coaching within their individual teams but also attend regular coaching clinics and academies as they progress through the grades. A squad based training system for our older grades strengthens the quality of the club’s player development programmes.
The club has close links with Capital Football and their development (Federation Talent Centre) programmes and has club representation on both the junior and senior advisory panels.

Coaching for success!
Our club prides itself on the quality and effectiveness of its coaching development programmes. Our director of coaching Brendan McIntyre works with the coaching selection panel to select and appoint our coaches each season.
As our club’s director of coaching Brendan supports and advises our coaches on their skills development and regularly attends training sessions and games to observe coaches and players and offer advice where required. All Lower Hutt City AFC coaches are required to up-skill where necessary and gain any specific coaching qualifications by attending regular Capital Football coaching and development clinics. The calendar for coaching courses being run this season by Capital Football will be available shortly. Coaches please note that there will be a pre-season coaches evening to be held at the Fraser Park gym prior to the start of the season. You will be notified of the date and time asap.

Junior level 1 coaching course
Capital Football is hosting a junior level 1 coaching course on Wednesday 16th April 6:30-9:30pm at the Capital Football Office, Memorial Park, Petone. Please click here to register.
The course is applicable to all junior coaches who are coaching teams in the 9-12 year age group. Coaches who are coaching travelling, promo or JPL teams must attain a Junior Level 1 coaching certificate. Please note that LHCAFC will reimburse you for the registration fee once you have payed and received an invoice from Capital Football. Please advise Sean or Renee if you have registered for this course.
Staying in control.
Club based referees play a vital role not only within our club but also within the wider footballing community. Our club is extremely supportive of our referees and encourages them to update their skills and qualifications regularly in order to meet regulatory standards of practice and to ensure the ongoing development of the game.

Our club would not function effectively without our army of volunteer referees and we are always on the lookout for new referees across all junior and senior grades.

Develop new skills and stay active in the holidays.
Lower Hutt City AFC runs regular school holiday football programmes throughout the year. Run by our director of coaching Brendan McIntyre and his professional coaching team the structured programmes encourage participation, skills development and fun. The programmes are held at our indoor training facility at Fraser Park giving us the flexibility to offer the programmes year round without having to rely on the weather to play ball.
The next soccer skills school holiday programmes will be run in the first week of the September school holidays.
Open to players aged 8-14 years from all clubs and schools;
The programme runs from Mon 29th September - Friday 3rd October inclusive.

Times: 8.45am - 2.30pm
Cost: Full Week $120.00 per child (including lunch)

Player development is of paramount importance to the ongoing and future success of our players, teams and club. Age grade academies are held throughout the year by our director of coaching at our indoor training facility at Fraser Park to compliment and extend the skills gained by the players in their individual team environments.

We would like to introduce our clubs junior committee under the leadership of our junior chairperson Sean McGarry. This talented team of dedicated volunteers oversee the governance and day to day operation of all aspects of the junior club and are committed to its ongoing development and success.
In order for us to ensure the ongoing success of our junior club we are seeking interest from anyone who would like to join the junior committee for season 2014. Responsibilities are divided equally among the committee and we meet regularly on the 2nd Monday of each month during the season.

Meet the director of coaching
Coaching our club to success.
Player development at all levels within the club is a key priority for LHCAFC and is led by our director of coaching Brendan McIntyre and the coaching committee.
A successful junior player in his own right in the UK for both Celtic and Norwich Brendan transitioned into a career as a professional coach more than 15 years ago. Brendan has been Lower Hutt City AFC’s director of coaching for over 6 years and is the head coach of the clubs senior men’s team.
During his tenure at LHCAFC Brendan has overseen the development of hundreds of talented footballers including players who have gone onto play for New Zealand age group teams, the Phoenix and several Scottish league teams. His strategic football development skills are a huge asset to our entire club from first kicks and junior academies through to senior men’s and women’s teams.
Brendan leads the club’s coach selection committee in the selection and appointment of the clubs senior coaching staff and ensures that there are quality development pathways and coaching support available to all coaches throughout the football season. Brendan also oversees the club’s successful football in schools and school holiday programmes which are available to children from the wider Wellington region throughout the year.

Please note the season 2014 registration fees as follow;
First Kicks: $50 per player per term. (The 2014 season encompasses 2 terms)
Grades 5 – 14: $90.00 for 1 player, $170.00 for 2 players from the same household or $240 for 3 or more players from the same household.
