The club formed in 1967 with the amalgamation of two existing clubs, Lower Hutt City (formed in 1921) and Railways (formed in 1942). We are a very proud club that celebrated its 100th year in 2021, our Senior men's team compete in the top local league that it can, which is the Central League. Ten teams compete in this league and we play teams from Napier, Wairarapa, Palmerston North and seven other local teams. We also have six other teams below the level competing in various leagues within our region.
We would like to introduce our clubs executive committee. Combining their extensive range of professional expertise these volunteers are the unsung hero’s of our club who ensure the effective governance and ongoing success of Lower Hutt City AFC.
After calling Bell Park home for nearly 93 years our club has transferred its operations to our new home at Fraser Park Sportsville, with offices in the Ricoh Sports Centre. We also still use our indoor training facility situated at the northern end of Fraser Park. Feel free to pop down and say hello!
Sportsville Hutt City is a partnership project led by Hutt City Council and supported by SPARC, Sport Wellington, NZ Community Trust & Pelorus Trust. The purpose of the Sportsville project is to create sports communities that make it easier for clubs to attract new members, offer new programmes and control operational costs by pooling resources. The focus is on collaboration, not amalgamation. Each club still retains its history and identity, now within a strong and supportive network. There are several sportsville projects proposed for different regions around New Zealand. Lower Hutt City AFC is a found member of Sportsville and you read more about this exciting project on the Fraser Park Sportsville website.
