About Print

crestLower Hutt City AFC is one of the leading football (soccer!) clubs in the greater Wellington region with 15 senior men’s teams (including our 1st team which plays in the Central League throughout the lower North Island), 4 senior women’s and 45 junior teams taking to the field in 2009.

The Club's flagship team last won its main competition in 2003, after a spectacular seventeen-win one-loss season. Now playing in the Central League (established in 2005), this team finished 4th in 2009 and has high hopes of bettering this in the coming season.

LHCAFC is a founding member of Team Wellington, the region’s representative in New Zealand’s club championship, with LHC players named in the squad every year.  Our players are capable of competing at the highest level, with a former All White in our first team, and another squad member who trialled with the Wellington Phoenix in 2009.

Our facilities are second to none, including the only indoor Astroturf football training facility in the Hutt Valley, which is in high demand from many local teams and community groups.

In addition to our regular teams, we also provide the following initiatives:

  • Groundbreaking Football for Schools Programme
LHC provides football coaching to schoolchildren throughout the Hutt Valley.  Our coaches visit a different school each week; our aim being to make football coaching accessible to as many children as possible.  Incredibly popular, this programme is already fully booked for 2010.
  • Dedicated Junior Football Academy.
Where the best become better.  It’s an early start for kids and coaches alike with additional skills training for selected 10th-14th grade juniors from 6.30am.
  • School Holiday Programmes
4 days of football fun during the school holidays.  Loved by kids and parents alike!
