Phil_Patterson_-_tawaLast weekend was a feast of football for our supporters, albeit with mixed results for our teams. Well done to the Roundballs, Ballkickers and Zimmers for successful season openers and credible starts for the Longballs and Capital 3.  For our Central League sides, both have points on the board with the women earning a point against Wellington United and the men earning 3 out of a possible 6 points on offer over the Easter Weekend.

Today, we welcome Napier City Rovers to Bell Park. Last season we earned a good win on an atrocious day at Bell and followed this up with a come-from-behind victory in Napier.  I’m looking forward to a challenging assignment today against one of the most successful clubs in the country.   And there’s even more football on offer at Bell, when Scott, Robbie and the Capital 1 team, take on Brooklyn Northern Utd on Sunday, so please do get along and support these guys.

Sportsville
In Club news, you may have noticed in the local paper, advertisements for Board positions at Fraser Park Sportsville.  Within the ad, LHCAFC is mentioned as a founding member.  At this point, LHCAFC has actually neither joined, or declined the invitation to join, this entity. However, I agreed to the wording of this ad as the Club is very much involved in discussions with the Sportsville Working Group.  Until now, myself and John McGrath (Junior Chairman) have been representing the Club’s interests; the next stage in the process is for our Executive Committee to meet with one (or more) representatives of Sportsville, hopefully in the next week or so, so that they can put their questions and concerns to the working group.  Should you have any questions surrounding Sportsville, or your Club’s involvement, please do speak to me or any member of your Committee.

See you in the Clubrooms
after the game.
