Womens Central League Lower Hutt City vs Seatoun at Te Whaea ParkResult Lost 1 nilPlayer of the Day Points:3 – Kelsi R, 2 – Tamsin, 1 – Kelsey
Our first game on the artificial pitch at Te Wahea Park was played on a dreary cold, wet and windy winter’s day. Neither conditions, nor the 2pm kick off time had a negative impact on our game. It was quite the opposite really as we played 90 minutes of really good and competitive football, the best by far this season. A number of changes in playing positions again this week, owing to lack of numbers again, possibly contributed to us having a total team effort on the Park. Central midfield was controlled by Kesi (PoD) who had an excellent game, demonstrating some sublime skills. She was ably assisted by Kendall in the defensive midfield role, with Lauren and Kelsey playing out wide. This midfield structure competed and at time outplayed the physically stronger Seatoun opposition for much the game. Defensively Tamsin played an outstanding game at centre back. She marked Seatoun’s top striker, Annie Olsen and kept her scoreless. Support for Tamsin was provided by Katrina, the other centre back, (who played her first game as “last man” of defence), with Steph and Jaimi in the full back positions. Upfront Ashleigh was well supported by Catherine. A number of facets in this performance are what we have been attempting to do throughout season, e.g. play to feet, don’t give away possession, support the player on the ball etc... But for some reason we have not done consistently or for any It was a good all round team performance and unfortunately, we concede the goal in the last 20 minutes of the game. Well done girls a much better effort. A solid performance from all players. We need to build on this performance to be competitive against a much stronger Upper Hutt Team this weekend. |
